What to Wear for Your First Padel Game

What to Wear for Your First Padel Game

If you are new to padel, one of the first questions is simple: what should you actually wear?

The good news is that you do not need anything complicated. But a few smart choices will make your first game far more comfortable.

Shoes matter most

If there is one thing to get right, it is your footwear.

Padel involves quick changes of direction, short sprints and lateral movement. A good pair of court shoes with proper grip will make a huge difference.

Avoid running shoes, which are not designed for sideways movement.

Clothing

Think lightweight, breathable and easy to move in.

Most players wear standard sportswear — t-shirts, shorts, skorts or leggings. Comfort is far more important than anything technical at this stage.

Accessories

You do not need much to get started, but a few extras can help:

  • A sweatband or wristband
  • A water bottle
  • An overgrip for comfort

What to avoid

Avoid restrictive clothing, heavy fabrics or anything that limits movement.

You will be surprised how quickly padel becomes active once rallies get going.

Keep it simple

The most important thing is just to get on court.

You can upgrade your gear over time, but your first game should be about enjoying the experience, not worrying about what you are wearing.
